Double Helix Cylindrical

At the core of Union City Filament’s cathode heater business, electron device filament business, and ionization gauge grid business lay double helix cylindrically configured coils. These designs consist of single wire coils and coiled coils wound into two helices on cylindrical mandrels for a specified number of turns at a specified pitch. Leg formations, coil diameters, and wire diameters can be modified to meet application requirements. Double helix configurations are prevalent in applications that require non-inductive properties.

Typical material types include tungsten, 3% rhenium tungsten, and thoriated tungsten. Double helix cylindrically designed coils are available coated in one of our alumina coatings.
